Yachtmaster Prep Course

| Prior Experience: | 50 days, 2500 sea miles logged, 5 passages of over 60 miles; 2 of which must be as skipper and overnight, 5 days as skipper, hold a VHF certificate and valid first aid certificate. |
This course is designed to prepare you for your Yachtmaster exam. It is vital that you are confident with your skippering ability and have a sound knowledge and practical application of the syllabus. We use our best instructors for the Yachtmaster Prep course with years of experience.
During the intensive 5 days course you will work hard on your boat handling techniques, pilotage, navigation and man over board. There will be a good amount of night time sailing to familiarise yourself with the local waters and improve your pilotage skills. Time will be spent discussing preparation for sea, passage planning and safety at sea.
The instructor will tailor the course to your specific needs having assessed your abilities early in the course. By the end of the week you will receive an individual de- brief from the instructor about your capabilities and suitability for the exam.
Each student will then be examined by an external RYA Examiner as they skipper the yacht on short passages and complete various demonstrations of skippering techniques. As all of our Instructors have been through these exams themselves they will be able to prepare you appropriately so that you are relaxed and confident on the day.
