Warings wins the Arlington Cup

The Warings entry in this years construction industry regatta, skippered by Philippe Falle our Racing Director, claimed an excellent victory. In breezy conditions in the Solent the team sailed two great races with a 2nd in the first race and a superb 1st in the second race to win with a 3 point lead.

Warings, a construction company based in Portsmouth, are one of our construction industry clients. They are aiming to defend their title at the Little Britain Challenge Cup in Spetember aboard Puma Logic, one of our Reflex 38's.

Leopard Wins the 3 Peaks Race

Leopard, one of our charter managed Reflex 38’s has secured a fantastic victory in the 3 Peaks Race. Leopard was skippered by her owner, Rob Dornton-Duff and accompanied by two sailors and two runners.

For this gruelling event the runners have to run up Snowden, Scafell Pike and finally Ben Nevis! The sailors have to get the runners to the base of each mountain. A remarkable achievement! Well done guys.

Jaguar Logic and Puma Logic Success in the Morgan Cup

Sailing Logic Racing boats enjoyed a double success in the RORC Morgan Cup race over the weekend. Puma finished in 2nd place closely followed by Jaguar who claimed an excellent 4th place.

The forecast was for variable and very light winds between three and seven knots, therefore it came as a surprise that RORC sent all the competing yachts on the longer 110Nm race. Not deterred both boats had an excellent start at the pin end of the start line both hoping to gain a tidal advantage. They were on the line on the gun at max speed, well four knots!

Puma worked the shifty wind very well and soon had a small lead over Jaguar and were tussling with Magnum at the front of the fleet. Puma and Magnum were neck and neck out of the Solent closely pursued by Jaguar who had exceptionally good boat speed. After a long and slow fight, a triumphant team on Jaguar came out on top, rounding Ocean Safety a couple of hundred metres ahead of Puma.

After this rounding, Puma headed slightly further offshore hoping to find a stronger gradient wind. This tactic seemed to pay and by the RORC Offshore buoy Puma had a healthy lead and were level pegging with Magnum and Meta Baron at the front of the fleet. During the night Jaguar had to anchor to avoid being swept back East on the strong flooding tide. Unfortunately the anchor snagged on the bottom and it took the team over two hours to get it free costing them vital time.

Undeterred Jaguar chased Puma hard all the way to the finish securing an excellent 4th place, whilst Magnum and Puma were enjoying their fight at the front of the pack. Sadly Magnum just had the edge this time and sailed an excellent last fourteen miles taking one and a half hours out of Puma in the process to clinch first in IRC 1 and 2nd overall! Full credit goes to both teams for persevering with the extremely light and variable wind to secure two great positions.

E-Sail Racing Campaign Auction
Round Britain & Ireland Race and Skandia Cowes Week

We have today announced our new e-Sail initiative. It is a scheme where we auction a crew place on some of our highly acclaimed racing campaigns. There is no reserve price for the campaigns so there are potentially some absolute bargains to be had.

For our first e-Sail auction we have selected four very exciting campaigns;

Round Britain & Ireland Race – Puma Logic
Round Britain & Ireland Race – Jaguar Logic
Skandia Cowes Week Campaign – Jaguar Logic
Team Logic Inshore Race Campaign – Cougar

The rules are simple; whoever bids the most for a campaign wins a crew place on the boat. It is very easy to place a bid. All you need to do is ‘click here’ and then bid for the campaign that you are interested in. Everyday we will publish the highest bid on our Racing Blog. You can then decide if you want to bid higher.

If you think any of your friends or colleagues may be interested in potentially getting a bargain price on one of these campaigns please feel free to forward this onto them. It is not often that an opportunity comes up like this.

Round Britain & Ireland Race

Join Puma Logic, RORC Champions

One of Great Britain’s leading offshore race skippers, Philippe Falle, is skippering Puma Logic in this years fully crewed Round Britain and Ireland race which starts on 7th August. This race is the toughest offshore race of the 2006 calendar where some of the top European boats will be fighting it out for between ten and fourteen days.

Due to personal reasons one of the team has unexpectedly had to stand down from the team which has opened an opportunity for someone else to join one of the most successful offshore race teams of the last twelve months. Skipper, Philippe Falle, comments ‘this is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and highly motivated person to join a great team. I believe the success of the last twelve months has been due to the ethos of our training and racing programme. Everyone that joins our team has a complete willingness to learn and have benefited greatly from their involvement. This campaign is very exciting and will push us all to our mental and physical limits over an extended period of time. What a fantastic experience it will be’

Puma Logic, a Reflex 38, has proven herself to be hugely competitive over the past eighteen months with class wins in the Rolex Fastnet race, the RORC Channel Race and then a superb victory in the RORC Offshore Series Championship. This year Puma has continued her success with a second place in both the RORC offshore races she has competed in so far and even more impressive was a 2nd place in the trials for the British Commodores’ Cup team.

Team Puma Logic consists of five of last year’s team who have all come back with greater knowledge and a hunger to defend their title. If you are interested in joining the team then either contact Philippe
philippe@sailinglogicracing.co.uk or visit our website www.sailinglogicracing.co.uk for more information.

The cost of the campaign has been greatly reduced to just £1995.00.
