Light Winds for Race Four

The fourth race of the Garmin Hamble Winter Series was plagued with very light and shifty winds. After a general recall Puma had a superb start at the favoured pin end of the line. Puma then crossed most of the fleet on port and was looking very good for an exellent first beat.

Unfortuntately Puma was the wrong side of the next shift and was out of phase with the shifts which left her trailing at the first windward mark. After a bad first beat the team quickly settled in and fought back hard, gaining several positions over the following two hours of racing.

The final result saw Puma finish 10th just one second ahead of Tarka! The good news was that our closest rivals also had a bad race. Puma is still in 3rd place in the series and most importantly has put us another point ahead of fourth placed Tarka.
